SKYE PIXTON RELEASES CD WITH PERFORMANCE ART SHOW

(Portland, Oregon) – Award-winning Portland folk/pop artist Skye Pixton will celebrate the release of her solo E.P. “Love, Lies & Skye,” on November 18 at Mississippi Studios – a show with a bit of a twist as she heads into performance art territory.

Skye launches her new musical project, also called Love Lies & Skye, with this CD release. Breaking with traditional concert format, her new show is a venture into performance art, implementing audience engagement, visual art, story telling, and weaving the music into a whole "piece" or “story” rather than the typical list of songs style performance from most live bands.

The record is comprised of Skye’s original songs, boasting her shimmering, lilting vocals, in her now-infamous mix of folk, Americana and pop done in her signature dreamy, pretty and sensual style. The album includes two of her prize-winning songs from the 2004 and 2005 Portland Songwriter’s Association International Song Contest. “Love, Lies & Skye” – the CD - includes a stream of Skye’s never-before released award-winning songs. “Hold On” recently won the Portland Songwriter’s Association's International Song Contest, as “Best Song” in the category of Folk and as the “Best Overall Song” grand prize winner across all genres. Skye also won this contest in 2004 for the category of Folk with her song “Away From You,” also on the album. Three other songs on the album – “Weight of the World,” “Baby Love,” and “Don’t Be Runnin” - were runners-up in various categories in 2004.

Skye’s intoxicatingly graceful acoustic music combines various kinds of wispy pop with hybrids of woodsy folk in a decidedly mellow yet passionate – even pastoral – music setting. Artists as diverse as Ani Difranco, Ben Folds Five, Joan Baez, Alanis Morrissette and Dixie Chicks may come to mind. Yet she takes elements from these and weaves them together into an ethereal blend, playing acoustic guitar and accompanied by backup vocals with rich harmonies (usually a sister), a cello (Skip VonKuske), and light drums/percussion. Her commanding yet sensitive voice, incredible original songs, and magnetic personality have earned her a growing list of loyal fans.

Career credits include television appearances, multi state radio play, singing the National Anthem at Portland Trail Blazers games, and a variety of clubs in the area.

The show happens on Friday, November 18th at 8 p.m. at Mississippi Studios, located at 3939 N. Mississippi in Portland. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Mississippi Studios (www.mississippistudios.com) or at the door, cover charge $8/$12.

Selected songs on the release are available to download or stream in mp3 format at www.skyepixton.com. For more information and schedule of performances, visit www.skyepixton.com.
